Structure of the Alliance

The Alliance, an opportunity for impact beyond boundaries

The Alliance collaborative model provides us the opportunity to work together to efficiently tackle the intricacies of international climate policy in a way that is suitable for our regional context, learning from each other’s experiences and growing our systems in a way that meets our national and collective regional ambitions. Carbon markets and climate finance will be crucial in spurring much needed climate action if we are ready for the opportunities at hand.

The governance structure of the Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance consists of the Advisory Committee, the secretariat which is the operational arm of the Alliance, led by the Alliance Coordinator and the collective of focal points collective/ Alliance National Focal Points, who are appointed by each member state.

Supporting the delivery structures are two thematic working groups on carbon markets and climate finance, which consist of public and private sector representatives.

The working groups support the public and private sector to strengthen their capacities on carbon markets and climate finance and also strengthen the cooperation and coordination of the private and public sectors in the region.

Technical Partners are a pool of experts contributing to the delivery of carbon markets and climate finance capacity projects. Technical Partners are regularly consulted for the facilitation of training and capacity building activities for the Alliance Members.
