Sven Egbers is an international climate policy expert with over a decade of experience advancing carbon markets and pricing instruments across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the European Union. As Head of the Global Carbon Markets project at GIZ, he has led multi-regional initiatives supporting governments and international organizations – including the UNFCCC, UNEP, and the World Bank – in developing and implementing carbon market mechanisms. His work focuses on fostering international cooperation, capacity building, and innovative approaches to carbon pricing and removals. Sven holds degrees in Economics and International Relations from Vienna University, with research stays in India and Australia, and speaks German, English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
