Dr. Issa Nyashilu is a Principal Environment Officer at the Vice President’s Office of the United Republic of Tanzania. He serves as Tanzania’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Focal Person and the Eastern Africa Alliance (EAA) Focal Point. He leads national coordination on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, and the preparation of Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) under the Paris Agreement. His work focuses on ensuring technical robustness, institutional consistency, and compliance with international transparency requirements. As the EAA Focal Point, Dr. Nyashilu represents Tanzania in regional coordination on carbon markets, transparency frameworks, and Article 6 readiness, linking national systems with regional and international processes. His expertise lies at the intersection of climate policy, national reporting systems, and international accountability mechanisms.
